Another hot day, but it is supposed to rain this afternoon and then cool off. And I'm glad (especially about the rain) but I'll also have to face the reality that summer is over. Sigh.
I need to run to the IGA before school, and buy pepperoni roll stuff. And it's yoga day at school, which is the very best day!
I'm going to the ReStore and Family Dollar after school, and otherwise, I do not have much planned.
Sarah is coming over for laundry tonight, so I'll pull some steaks out of the freezer and dh can grill.

This is supposed to be the end of our hot weather, too. I sure hope so because I am over it.
Have to run some errands today. Not feeling it at.all.

It hasn't been quite as hot here as for some of you guys in the last week or so - highs in the low 90s. But starting Saturday, our highs will only be in the mid-80s for the rest of the 15-day forecast. I'd love to get actual fall, lol. Except then it would be followed by actual winter, which I don't think I want...
It's Grammy Day for the kids this morning. We'll get a little school done before they go and more this afternoon. Church tonight.

Well, the Great Heatwave of 2017 is over. It was at least 92 degrees for seven consecutive days, and we set record highs for those seven consecutive days, thus setting a record for the number of days in a row we set a record. What with the hurricanes and all, September was a remarkable weather month; one might even say historic.

We've had temperatures in the 90's as well, add the humidity on top of that and it's been absolutely nuts. We've been driving to Ontario (about 20 minutes away) and having picnics at the beach for dinner almost every day to beat the heat - it doesn't feel like September at all. It's supposed to go down to mid 60's then go back up a bit for the weekend.
I'm off to the plastic surgeon for my follow up appointment this afternoon, no more carpal tunnel syndrome for me! The left hand is healing a little slower than the right did, the damage was worse and the actual procedure was a bit tougher so it's not surprising. I should be off work for another 2-4 weeks, hopefully my insurance will eventually get their crap together and pay me for the past 5 weeks...hate them.

some dude making speech: ...and then we'll have less enemies. Stannis: Fewer. Ser Davos: What?
Dh and I are binge watching Game of Thrones. Oh my word I love Stannis. I swear he's my soul mate sometimes (well, except for that smoke baby thing and whatnot lol). We laughed and laughed and watched that exchange a bunch of times. It was so random and perfect a moment in the middle of a serious, tense episode.
Today is my day off. So of course there's a huge all-staff meeting this afternoon. We're even closing to the public for an hour. I suppose it should show up. Things have been changing at a rapid pace (in a good way), so I imagine this will be an update. Before that I intend to go for one of my twice-a-year haircuts at Supercuts. God I hate getting my hair cut, for so many reasons. Oh well, suck it up buttercup!

I'm getting my hair cut Saturday. I haven't had it cut since the end of May so I'm due. I really want swoopy bangs like RC's avatar but the last time I told the stylist that she cut them super short and straight across. That's why I haven't had a hair cut since May. I've been in to straightening my hair lately but I realized that my hair looks like my bff's when I straighten it and that's just too weird for me, especially on the days when she works and our hair is the same. So I've been leaving it curly. Oh well, I'm adorable either way

I'm pretty sure I caught Davos making the same less/fewer correction to Jon in Season 7. My, how he's grown!

It's been a roller coaster in my life the last few months. I noticed a lump on my neck, just below my ear in July. I saw my family Dr. She didn't seem very concerned but did order an ultrasound scan. Then she ordered another one a month later. I wasn't super concerned at that point because I had convinced myself that it was a benign tumour in my salivary gland. The results of the second ultrasound indicated that it was probably reactive (from recent infection) but recommended a biopsy to rule out anything else. I was referred to a surgeon to arrange a biopsy.
The general surgeon told me that she thought it was either lymphoma or a carcinoma & ordered a biopsy. That was done last week. I saw her again on Monday & was told that it appears to be lymphoma but they need to remove a lymph node to find out which kind it is. I also need to have a CT scan to see if it has spread beyond the lymph node I found.
To say that I've been a little stunned is putting it mildly. I haven't been sick for over a year & have no symptoms except for the swollen lymph node. I'm trying to stay upbeat & positive but I'm anxious to start treatment. I'm worried about what will happen with my grandsons if I get very sick. (I have legal guardianship of them through social services). They are 11 & 12 now & my DH cooks most of our meals & makes their lunches etc & makes sure they get off to school on time etc. (he's retired). Not looking for sympathy or anything. I'm determined to fight this as hard as I can. I still have far too many things still on my bucket list to let this keep me down for long. I just have trouble stopping my mind from going to "those places" sometimes.

Thanks for the kind thoughts. I know I'll get through this. I'm just a little edgy at the moment.
The other stuff I hadn't mentioned (not much anyway). My oldest son joined the Canadian armed forces in March. He is still going through training but seems to be doing well & enjoying it.
My other son is enlisting as well. He gets sworn in on October 26 & leaves for basic training on Nov 4. I'm sure he will do well too. I'm always going to feel a little nervous about their well being, especially with current world events but I'm proud of both of them.

Oh Mimi, I'm sorry to hear this. Hoping the testing shows something that is easily treated.
