The more I think about this, the more I realize that things that seemed benign would likely become difficulties if they went public in certain ways. Like, I accused a boss of sexual assault. I did not go to the police. Would that come up? Possibly. Would it get ugly? Probably.
Standing up to public scrutiny when that "public" includes a lot of ugly souls would be horrible.

Lots of sex, drugs and rock n roll here as well. But I wouldn’t want the stupid choices I made as a kid/young adult to be thrown in my face or be up for public scrutiny.

If the other side wanted to find something to conflagrate from my past, I doubt it would matter if there were anything there to be found or not.

I'm not perfect and I'm sure I've done and said plenty of stupid stuff over the years. I'm also sure if someone wanted to dig around they could find something to bring up now, 30 years later, that they could spin to make me look bad. Anyone who says no, there is nothing in their past, is delusional. I don't think anyone is somehow immune from the witch hunt mentality that's so prevalent today.

I had a lot of fun and am so glad that there weren't cell phones around back then.

Nope. I couldn’t run for office. Actually a friend and I were just discussing this. It’s so interesting to me too, because I was the biggest goody two shoes lol. But in 1994 my little private school did a high school play called The Big Wave. It was about a tsunami hitting the coast of japan and this one boy’s struggle to save his farm (or something like that). We were all white, playing Asians, and we all darkened our skin for the performance. I can tell you 100% we had no idea at all that was inappropriate, but looking back, the whole play was actually probably pretty problematic. I’d definitely get blasted.
