Or why Green Book won the Oscar over BlackKlansman? I haven't seen Green Book so I can't compare. But I thought Washington did a stellar job in BlackKlansman and while I also enjoyed Driver's I didn't think it was more Oscar worthy? Maybe because the field for supporting actor was weaker??

Adam Driver is not hot. He is that guy from high school who was a bit of a loner; the guy who, even twenty years later, no one can forget.

That's a great article. The first thing I ever saw him in was Star Wars - and even though Kylo Ren is a whiny ass little bitch I can't look away. I find him a much more compelling villain than Darth Vader ever was. It's funny because dh watched Girls and it was on one night while I was around and I'm like "Is that Kylo Ren?" and he hadn't even realized until I pointed him out .

This is one of my favorite things he’s done:

I heard he stormed out of an NPR interview w/ Terri Gross. I think he looks like Keanu Reeve's less hot brother.

I don’t know that he stormed out. He did leave. Apparently he has made it clear that it really bothers him to see or hear himself on camera, and the interview was going to play a part of the movie.

I talk on camera in instructional videos for my work, and I cringed at first. I’m getting used to it. I don’t get paid millions to do it, I’m no one’s version of hot looking, and I sound like a man. So to Adam Driver I say “Suck it up, buttercup!”

No, he didn’t storm out. And in an earlier interview on Fresh Air, he had even discussed it with the host, so it’s not like they didn’t know how he felt about it.
Apparently it’s more than just feeling uncomfortable with watching his own performances - he has a phobia about it. And hey, if I tell someone about my spider phobia, and they open a box of spiders near me, is that going to help me get over my phobia, or make it worse?

Even highly paid people deserve boundaries.

Ah! That's what I get for just reading the headlines. I honestly had no idea who this person was before this thread!

And hey, if I tell someone about my spider phobia, and they open a box of spiders near me, is that going to help me get over my phobia, or make it worse? If you had decided to take a job at a spider ranch, then my response would be the same! Behaviour modification is a big part of my job, so yeah, I know of course that’s not going to help. If his employer is cool with it, then all is cool. He would benefit from therapy to get over it, though. Would make his life less stressful, fear isn’t fun . Of course, he would get less publicity...

He’s actually fairly private, and doesn’t discuss his personal life very much at all, so he doesn’t seem to seek publicity.
