I’m reading Torey Hayden’s latest book, Lost Girl. It’s really interesting to me because the young girl she’s working with in this one has RAD, which my nephew also has. I really like her books. Unfortunately the online library service only has a few and I've read them all.

I’m almost finished with Two by Two by Nicholas Sparks. My heartstrings are wore out from getting tugged on so much. I’m preparing myself for the big ugly that’s due any page now.

Absolutely loving Washington Black by Esi Edugyan. I loved that book. Fun fact - her husband was nominated for a Giller Prize this year - she won last year for Washington Black. He did not win so I imagine that was awkward in their house
I've been doing a lot of Christmas reading - cozy books mostly but I did finally read A Christmas Carol. Now I'm reading the Bear and the Nightingale which is a Russian folklore retlling (I think). It has a winter vibe so even though it's not Christmasy I figured it would count.

Sobbing while wearing a CPAP mask isn’t fun, or easy for that matter. 😂 Tonight, I’m starting The Last List of Miss Judith Kratt by Andrea Bobotis. I’ve started a number of book the last couple of months that didn’t hold my interest, so I plan to pick those up again after New Years.

I can’t say that it’s enjoyable, because of the subject matter, but his writing is very good and engaging. Reading it makes me think of the residential schools that Indigenous children here in Canada were forced to attend, and how that trauma has resonated through the years in the Indigenous community.
I felt similarly about The Underground Railroad.
