How do you feel about audiobooks? If you like then, when do you listen to them? I’m listening to a sample of one at work, but I’m not really catching the gist of the story because, well, I’m working. I have a feeling the same would happen when I’m driving. I’ll be focusing on driving and missing the story.

I love them and primarily listen in the car. If anything, I'm focusing on the story and forget about driving (ha). Also, I check them out from the library via the app, since audiobooks can be really expensive.
Sometimes I listen to them while doing housework/laundry.

I listen to them ( Agatha Christie mostly, lately) at bedtime. Came in handy to block my roommate's snoring in the hospital.

Lots of homeschoolers talk about how they use audiobooks with their kids all the time, the kids love audiobooks and listen to them during play time, etc. I tried one with my kids once, and they HATED it (and I didn't love it either). But DH enjoys them and listens to them on his drive to and from work.

I’ve tried them several times and I can only listen to them in the car and even with that I tend to get distracted with a random thought so I lose track of what is going on.

My favorite way to listen is on long drives (2+ hours) when I’m alone. It helps pass the time & keeps me awake. Of course, the narrator & storyline/subject have to be engaging.
Sometimes, I’ll speed up the narration & read along. That’s how I focus on some of the drier stuff; the first audiobook I listened to was for a college class when I went back to school.
I still prefer an actual book in my hands, but I enjoy listening at times, too.

LOVE them and that's mostly how I get books in these days.

I love them so much. I work by myself (in the garden) and I’m by myself for two weeks out of the month. I listen to them every day. And I don’t mind re-listening to books.

I love them, it is the only way I 'read' books these days (although its been a few months since I listened to one). I listen on my walk to work, when I am working in the yard, or while walking the dog.

Not a fan. Too slow, and I like to use my own imagination along with the words, not the performer’s interpretation.
Plus I don’t have blocks of time when I would listen. I like music while I’m doing physical tasks like cleaning and yard work, and I rarely drive anywhere much longer than 20 minutes.

I like them - some are better than others - and listen to them while I'm knitting, so it's more like having the radio on. Audible's original content is pretty good, too - the piece on Twain was excellent.

Not my thing. A) My MP3 player can't really remember where I left off so they're impractical and B) I find my mind wandering and I lose the train. I also like to put my own emphasis in a story - not have a narrator do it for me.

Huge fan. I listen to loads of audiobooks and podcasts. My drive is just shy of 2.5 hours per day (not going to do that forever, but it is what it is for now) and music just does not cut it. I also listen while I'm doing housework and farm chores.

My husband loves them. Loves his audible subscription. I don't like them unless we are listening on the road together. My commuting time is spent usually talking with him, so I don't really have a chance to listen otherwise. I don't like to listen to anything but music when I clean, or do other tasks.

I just started trying them last year. I like the combo of Kindle/Audible book that keeps bookmarks so I can go back and forth based on my mood.

I tried to listen to one when I was driving on 5 hour trip alone but kept getting distracted. Not my thing.

Just wanted to come back to say that I tried another audiobook this week, and I really enjoyed it (What Alice Forgot). Maybe, for me, it just depends on the book/content and the narrator.

The are great for road trips. We just drove from Vegas to Colorado, and the CO to DC, and listened to three of them. I can think of few other situations where I'd listen to them.
