I’m reading What the Wind Knows and it takes place in Ireland. Many of the names are Gaelic and I’ve had to go to YouTube to hear the correct pronunciations. Made me think of you!

There’s a funny clip with Saoirse Ronan trying to teach Stephen Colbert how to pronounce Gaelic names - he does okay with her name but not so well with others 😄

My favorite is Caoimhe - pronounced Kweeva (or Keeva)

I remember as a kid seeing Siobhan and thinking See o Ban See, I learned the correct pronunciation of Siobhan from the B-side of the single “Do They Know it’s Christmas?” that I got in...1984, I think? The B-side was all of the participating artists introducing themselves, and I couldn’t figure out how Siobhan became Shavon (that will make Maurinsky laugh 😄)

If I’d ever had a little girl, I would have given serious consideration to the name Aisling.
