I feel sad for the people he may have infected and the hospital staff that puts themselves at risk helping him attempt to survive his own foolishness.
I feel sad for all of us, but not for him.

Yes. That is how I feel about all the people not wearing masks, especially if they are wearing red MAGA caps.

I'm currently in an argument on facebook with someone who keeps saying since grocery store workers and waiters have to work in unsafe conditions teachers should just suck it up and stop complaining about having to work in unsafe conditions. Why is that the argument instead of, "Grocery store workers and waiters should have safe conditions?"

Why is that the argument instead of, "Grocery store workers and waiters should have safe conditions?" Essentially that same argument was also made on WBTD. Astronauts and miners work in unsafe conditions, so somehow I guess anyone who wants climate control when they do hot work inside is a whiny bitch? Want a safety harness while you weld on the 10th floor of structure? Whiny bitch! Training for operating heavy machinery? Suck it up! Astronauts have it far worse, as do miners, so suck it up! ~~ Some jobs are dangerous. That doesn't seem to me like an argument--or at least not a sensical one--against making other jobs as safe as possible. Or even putting a pause to that work if we can. When it's 117* in Las Vegas, maybe the should stop the day crew from doing non-emergency road work, even though there are other jobs that are more dangerous. Because they can. Because we should help stay safe who we can, when we can. And that doesn't even address the fact that we are also putting the kids at risk. Or maybe going to school is their "job" so they too are whiny bitches according to these people?

Anyone who cares about kids is very concerned about school reopening and how to make that as safe as possible (even if that means being online part of the time). It is not whiny to realize 30 kids in one classroom for 7 hours with limited ventilation during a pandemic has all sorts of safety concerns which should be addressed. Districts which have the money to address this are doing so as best they can. Other districts are taking it out of teacher salaries, which is fun.

I mean... I feel nothing 🤷♀️ His math is wrong. It is .0032%. 4/125000 + x/100 400/125,000= .0032 That's all

*nods head vigorously* Teachers go back on August 6th , kids on August 13th in my district. We have yet to take a survey on who is planning to homeschool, or do virtual, or send to brick and mortar. I am hopeful that will happen this week. One Stop Enrollment for new students (pre-k/kindergarten who have not previously been enrolled, and anyone else who has moved into the district) is this Thursday. My school always gets the most new students at that, since we are early childhood. Hoping that we will have a more solid plan at that time. I asked my principal again this weekend about what our protocol is going to be for how many at a table, how they have to sit, etc. She said we will have to wait until the plexiglass sneeze guards we ordered are in... I was not happy with that answer, so I emailed someone at the board, who said the same thing. Only that person added "HOPEFULLY they will be here before school starts so we can troubleshoot if needed...". Are you freaking kidding me? If you know anything about little kids, it is that you have to have your classroom SET before they come in, it is very difficult to make changes those first few weeks. So I am just trying to hold it together as much as I can, and hope for the best. But stress levels are high in my house.

Oh deenie! What a mess! We at least have until September 1st, which seems a long way out still. I have a feeling a lot of sneeze guards were ordered and I hope you get yours on time.
Can you imagine the cost to a major urban district for sneeze guards alone?! The districts won't be able to afford that. You know teachers in those districts are going to spend their August food budgets on clear shower curtains and pvc pipe, rally their families to build make-shift dividers, and eat ramen and peanut butter while their own kids have to wait for new school clothes until the first paycheck of the new school year.
