So I'm kind of dumb about this stuff, so I thought I'd ask here. The kid has to have double scopes this week (down the gullet, up the butt), and she's supposed to be doing a low carb diet until she has to take the Chernobyl poop fountain stuff. As I said, I know squat. They gave us a few examples but yeah, I'm kind of clueless. I know nothing with seeds, nothing with fibre (so no whole wheat, etc). I've got a bunch of veg to steam, doing a couple extra chicken breasts up, some canned fruit, etc. - it's just tonight and tomorrow, on Tuesday she has to go full liquid/clear fluids diet.
The flip side of this, is that if she has this metabolic disorder, she has to go more toward a higher complex carb/lower fat, so now I have all this stuff to learn alongside of her. Right now, we have been trying out having her eat many small meals through the day, as opposed to just 3 mains with a couple of snacks here and there. This "grazing" seems to work well for her, she feels a bit better. Because hypoglycemia can be an issue, I've picked up some of the Dex4 tablets for her, for if she starts feeling floopy. When they diagnosed the POTS, she had to up her salt intake, and we've always kept some salty crackers in our vehicles/cupboards, etc, for when she was feeling floopy from the POTS, to try and get more salt in her a little more quickly. But, increased salt intake hasn't always seemed to work for her, and now with this possible MCAD/MADD diagnosis, we're looking back and recognizing some instances where it was probably a hypoglycemia thing, not always a POTS thing.
Help?

I know our friends go to a specialty colonoscopy clinic and the no seeds/fibre etc is a big part of that. And it does seem to help. Also check out Dave Barry's Colonoscopy column if you need a laugh. You have to register to read it (it's free) but it's very very funny.

I had to do a 2 day cleanse for my second one (but I don't need another one for 10 years, so yay!). I'd recommend soft boiled eggs, seedless fruit, lots of soups. Avoid the bread and pasta type of carbs. They say no nuts and seeds for a week prior because they can get lodged in the folds of the colon. The day of the fast it's just clear soup broth and jello (but not red). If she tends to have a slowish metabolism like I do, she may want to do the Chernobyl drink earlier than they recommend. Mine said 1/2 at 7 pm and the other half the next morning which was f'ing ridiculous. That would only work if I had the metabolism of a hummingbird. Hence why I need to do it again with a 2 day cleanse.
The directions say to drink the gross stuff cold to improve the taste, but that was a lie. Room temp was earlier to get it down sooner. Use a wide straw to avoid it going over the tongue and taste buds. The shit is essentially all salt, so they add a horrendous amount of sweetener to make it bearable. It's sickly sweet, yet with a salty aftertaste to the point you want to puke.

For my first one, I was on a clear liquid diet. (And nothing red.) Basically, broth, jello, and Gatorade. But that certainly wasn't low carb because that's a fair amount of sugar.
If they truly want her to go low carb, I would think fruit is out. Perhaps google Keto recipes for low carb ideas.

She has to go to liquid diet on Tuesday. I've picked up lots of stuff for that. She can do low carb full food for Monday. In terms of fruit, it was listed ok as long as it was canned, not fresh.
