I have been busy. So far I have read The Child Finder by Rene Denfeld. I liked it well enough but I needed more at the end.
I read Those Girls by Chevy Stevens. Good read. Its one of those books that I can see being made into a movie.
Now I am reading The Silent Wife by Kerry Fisher. Enjoying it so far.

I finished the Subtle Are of Not Giving a F*ck and I really liked it. He doesn't have any degrees or anything but his stuff made as much sense as shit other people with lots of letters after there names write. And it's not really about not giving a fuck - it's about choosing healthy fucks to give and giving those instead - it's about choosing what values you want to live your life by.

I really liked it, too. So much that even though I have the ebook version, I bought Dh the paper one.

I started Word by Word: The Secret Life of Dictionaries by Kory Stamper who's an editor at Merriam Webster and I'm adoring it. I'm not really a grammar/word nerd but it's very engaging.

I might have to look for that one, WOG!
I finished up the R. C. Sproul book I was reading (The Gospel of God: Romans). Now I'm working on Jane Austen's Emma and on A Jonathan Edwards Reader.
And I posted this morning on a homeschool board asking for some recommendations for Clara, so now I have a huuuuge list of books to skim through so I can pick a couple things for her birthday.

I RTed her ERMAHGERD BORK! tweet to you, did I not? It’s a great book 😄 I just started We Were Eight Years in Power by Ta-Nehisi Coates. Finished Crash Override by Zoë Quinn yesterday.

Looks like I should be reading this one. I studied lexicography for my MA, and did an independent study project at the MED, defining the word "Saffron".

Intersession by Louis Romano. Serial killer after rapist priests, but I believe as the book continues other religions will be involved.

Just finished "My Cousin Rachel" by Daphne de Maurier. Also, listening to Fredrik Backman's "Beartown". Um, not the feelgood Ove I was looking for... but terribly good, nonetheless.

Perfect so you can tell me how to pronounce "lexicography". I've been saying "lexography" in my head but that "co" in the middle is giving me pause (but apparently not enough pause to google it)

I just finished The Perfect Stranger by Megan Miranda. I liked it, but I think I've been spoiled by Sue Grafton's writing style in comparison. It also loses a couple of points on what I think is a plot hole, but I don't feel like re-reading a few chapters to confirm it.

Blackout by Connie Willis. We're having Book Club at my place this weekend. What did you think about it? If I recall, I liked her To Say Nothing of the Dog. I finished Siobhan's book, and I am so freaking proud of her. What's it about?

I loved Blackout (#notAlice). To Say Nothing of the Dog was funny. The Doomsday Book was VERY serious (verging on depressing). But Blackout and All Clear were the sweet spot for me. Exciting and dangerous. They were the first I read in the Oxford Time Travel series so that may have impacted my feelings. I thought I picked a great book to start the year with but I think I'm going to stop it. I'm 56% through London Falling and I just don't really like it. I don't dislike it - but I don't really care for any of the characters and the plot is weird. I like urban fantasy but this one is just not doing it for me (an ancient witch type creature that is a serial killer who kills any player who scores a hat trick against her favourite football club??) I have no problem abandoning books - but I just don't want to on the first one of the year . But we're 12 days in and I'm clearly not making huge strides - if I love a book I'll finish it faster. So now I'm a reader without a book - afraid to pick a crappy second book to start my year with

I cheated on my London Falling book (because I don't totally dig it) and read Love & Gelato. I adored it. It's a YA - teen girl's mom dies and sends her to Italy to live with a friend from her past. The girl then explores her mother's past while building relationships of her own. I sped through it. I'm now reading The Hearts We Sold by Emily Lloyd-Jones. It was one I got in one of my bookish boxes - YA world in which demons exist and people can try body parts to demons for wishes. I'm not very far into it but I'm enjoying it so far.
