Apparently after she becomes a white woman she becomes an Asian woman. I think that the campaign would have worked better if they just showed three different women. I mean if you put the white woman first there's going to be controversy if the black woman then becomes Asian or the Asian woman then becomes black - there was just no winning on this one.

It's a pretty unfair criticism. While it would have been better to start with the white woman, all the anger is taking a small part of the ad out of context. There are three women in the ad - not two.
WaPo does some hideous "journalism" here.

The last person was Hispanic? (she is wearing a tan shirt), I think they wanted to say "Using Dove means somebody will take your job eventually" Found one from 2014 ![](http://www.karanovic.org/courses/mca008/files/2014/05/DOVE-VISIBLE-CARE-AD.jpg)

Wow! I was trying to figure out if this was fake outrage or not and looked at a bunch of articles. Not one said there was a third one.
Amazingly bad reporting.

I still think it's a little cringe worthy that the message looked like in order to go from dirty to clean "go from black to white".
But certainly not as outrageous or racist as it was made out to be.

May not be as bad as reported, but, it was a really stupid mistake. I am amazed that no one caught it.

It's not from dirty to clean, it's from dry skin to hydrated skin. Race is immaterial.

Intention did not match imagery which is why they apologized and pulled the ad.
