Other people in this thread said they either already got all of their news from them or would consider doing so. Actually, no one said that.

Right. There is a reason MGM is suing. But that is not the narrative being spun all over the place. It might be worth $15 a year to get all of my news from this one site and ignore everything else so that I can limit my exposure to being propagandized Actually, I said it lol I for sure never thought that considering a website that doesn't spin info or bias would be so controversial ! Lol

But, no- I would never get all my news from one site. I will continue to sort through the bullshit and then see how The Knife is reporting it.

Mamapalooza: “Love The Knife, I've been following them on facebook for some time, and now I've unfollowed every single big media outlet I had (keeping a few small, local ones).“ Sprockey: “It might be worth $15 a year to get all of my news from this one site and ignore everything else so that I can limit my exposure to being propagandized.”

Local news is still covers national and world events. Sprockey would never get news from only one site or WBTD dies. I understood her comment to mean she's sick of bias in news, as the overwhelming majority of Americans are, according to a Gallup poll.
So no one actually said it.

And most comical of all: Knife media raw data articles source back to the major news outlets. All raw data articles source back.

I no longer need any news sources.
Without any sources, I am quite confident that Trump said something recently that has enraged roughly half of the country, most Europeans and plenty of Canadians. This has distracted them from the thing he said the day before.

I do not feel qualified to analyze the legitimacy of various news sources. I am curious though if ad hominem is no longer considered a logical fallacy, but rather a valid way to dismiss an argument or information out of hand? I understand being skeptical of information from sources that have proven themselves to be untrustworthy, but I've been surprised to see that frequently on this sight an ad hominem argument seems to be the only criteria needed to completely discount a wide variety of reported stories.

I get enough news without seeking it out because people and organizations on my fb feed will repost and comment on things. I will follow what interests me if i want to learn more. I also get enough of the big news items from the local outlets I follow. If I'm really jonesing I'll tune in to the 6pm news hour out of Vancouver. But the daily newspapers' facebook feeds? I've had enough. The headline writers mislead, editorialize or resort to sheer clickbait. News stories barely even try to suppress editorializing anymore -- something we learned to distinguish in high school journalism class. News stories are not opinion pieces. The free press has done a piss poor job of upholding their industry standards, and good content is getting harder to find. It's sad and it's scary, because a free press is foundational to a free democracy. I don't pay to support The Knife either, I read my allotted amount and that's fine. But when I see stories written with the traditional W5 in the first paragraph without the inflammatory, divisive bullshit? Why WOULD I settle for that other crap?

It’s difficult for news media to survive in an age where everybody wants their news for free.

They want it for free and they want it biased.

Just dredging this up because there is a new HBO docuseries about NXIVM and they mention The Knife. Mark Vicente, a former member of the cult, is featured in it. According to this piece by a journalist who applied to work at The Knife: “As Vicente details in The Vow, the Knife was specifically created to discredit media that were reporting factually on NXIVM's sordid dealings.” www.entrepreneur.com/article/356479 See? The red flags don’t lie! And IMO, this is the easiest and most effective way of checking sources if anyone isn’t sure how to do it (it doesn’t actually take 3 hours): www.notion.so/Check-Please-Starter-Course-ae34d043575e42828dc2964437ea4eed

I just wish more people I know on Facebook would be willing to take the time to run through the "class".
