Nope. I don't like tattoos, so they are not something I'd want to preserve.

Eww. And sorry completely selfish. You really want your grieving loved ones to be tasked with preserving parts of your skin??? And then 20 years later cleaning out the attic, "oh, here's a box of Dad's skin. Should this go in the keep, sell or donate pile?"

Not a chance, no. I'm good with photos.
When my kids lost their dad it didn't even occur to any of us to preserve his tattoos. The idea is really weird to me, as a non-tattoo person. Might as well preserve their teeth or something. The one thing I wish I hadn't lost was our answering machine tape that had a message from him, I think that would be a neat keepsake for my kids to be able to still hear his voice.

People get tattoos knowing that bodies are not forever. If they want to create art that lasts, do it in a lasting medium. Or be happy with photos.

Pictures are good and I think that's an unrealistic request when his body was likely covered in tattoos. And a somewhat cruel request.

Hell to the no!
I got my tattoos for me, and they’re staying with ME.

No kidding. Both my older kids have tattoos. I guess I have to expressly tell them that, god forbid something happen to them, to please not bequeath to me their tats. Please.

Two words. Lampshade. No. That was my exact mental journey when I first saw the article.
