there will be a lot of it over the next several months. Thought we could consolidate it in one thread.

Things to remember 1. Impeachment of a President is not the process of undoing a previous election. It is the process whereby Congress indicts a President for wrongdoing while in office. I saw a good analogy yesterday. If a kid gets accepted to College and then gets thrown out for cheating, that doesn't overturn his acceptance. Hillary Clinton doesn't become President if Trump is removed from office.

I still think it will be better overall for the Country if he is removed at election time. That's just one year(ish) away.
Which is ultimately what I think will happen.

Might as well have President Puddlegum. Trump is a stupid narcissist but at least I’m aware that his agenda is “do what’s best for Trump” at all times. Pence has a much more insidious agenda in my opinion. www.google.com/amp/s/amp.cnn.com/cnn/2018/08/28/opinions/mike-pence-plan-to-outlast-trump-dantonio-eisner/index.html

With Pence we can get back to normal things to get outraged about though. Trump keeps trying to outdo himself when it comes to embarrassing America by saying/doing dumb shit.

Are we really thinking the Senate will actually convict (or whatever is the correct term) and remove him? The Republican Congress that accepts and even frequently gives support to his behaviors?
Unless something entirely unambiguous--like, no room at all for finding even the most implausible alternative--comes to light, I just can't see it. (Or something happens that makes it look nearly inevitable that he will lose in 2020, in which case they might want Pence in if he'd have a better chance than Trump of winning next term.) They've shown time and again that they are spineless cowards willing to tolerate appalling behaviors. Yes, they pushed back slightly on Syria, but event that was fairly toothless. Voting to remove their president? I don't think anywhere near enough of them have the integrity or courage to do it, even in the face of fairly convincing evidence (which may or may not be presented).
So talk of that feels purely academic to me.

I don't believe he will be removed, but I think public testimony will destroy him. And I think those with seats at risk might flip. Who knows, though? According to the testimony that has been published, there are at least 3 first hand accounts of quid pro quo. And they can only smear the process, vets, long term service people for so long. Everyone is lying except for Trump? No. People will have admit that they just don't care about what he says and does.

Yeah it’s all about “winning” to voters. He could masturbate on a picture of Jesus and evangelicals will find a biblical way to defend it.....

They will never convict him. We are stuck with him until he's voted out next year or in 5.

Once more republicans get released from their Russian re-education camps they will vote for Trump again.

Shiff did not riff. Was somber.
Nunes says this is about Dems hating Trump. Says these witnesses had to pass the star test behind closed doors first.
Stefanik - R, asked about the GOP witnesses, and when they will be notified if they can testify. Shiff says three are allowed, she wants to know about remaining six. Asks if they will be allowed to ask anything, Shiff says questions aimed at outing whistleblower won't be allowed.
Shiff says he doesn't know who the whistleblower is. Says they will vote after these witnesses testify about issuing whistleblower a subpoena to testify privately.

The insistence of outting the WB makes no sense to me. It doesn't help the GOP or Trump. The WB reported what he heard and that it concerned him. It launched the inquiry/investigation and brought forth the witnesses we have today. What will they ask him? They will then accuse him of hearing second hand information. If they want first hand testimony then call Bolton and Mulvaney and several others you've blocked. It's solely an attempt to harass and intimidate.

Once s/he is outed, should it happen, then his entire life will be put under a fine0toothed comb. They will find something. Remember out thread about each of us could withstand public scrutiny? His high school girlfriend had an abortion? We will hear about it. He made out with a 16 year old when he was 19? That will be brought up. He cheated on his wife two decades ago? News at 11. Any women out there say he was ever inappropriate, even 30 years ago? That will be part of the story. Avoided the draft? Here are his records (irony aside) proving he hates America. Attended a provoctive protest when he was in college? Here's the photo of him with a communist flag. The want to know who he is so they can drag him through the mud, even if the mud has nothing at all in the slightest to do with his claims. They will do everything they can to destroy this man so that he is 1) punished and 2) under a cloud that casts a large enough shadow that in at least some minds, he credibility is shot.
