Right. The whistleblower is not on trial here and shouldn't be.

The insistence of outting the WB makes no sense to me. It doesn't help the GOP or Trump. The WB reported what he heard and that it concerned him. It launched the inquiry/investigation and brought forth the witnesses we have today. What will they ask him? They will then accuse him of hearing second hand information. If they want first hand testimony then call Bolton and Mulvaney and several others you've blocked. It's solely an attempt to harass and intimidate. Once s/he is outed, should it happen, then his entire life will be put under a fine0toothed comb. They will find something. Remember out thread about each of us could withstand public scrutiny? His high school girlfriend had an abortion? We will hear about it. He made out with a 16 year old when he was 19? That will be brought up. He cheated on his wife two decades ago? News at 11. Any women out there say he was ever inappropriate, even 30 years ago? That will be part of the story. Avoided the draft? Here are his records (irony aside) proving he hates America. Attended a provoctive protest when he was in college? Here's the photo of him with a communist flag. The want to know who he is so they can drag him through the mud, even if the mud has nothing at all in the slightest to do with his claims. They will do everything they can to destroy this man so that he is 1) punished and 2) under a cloud that casts a large enough shadow that in at least some minds, he credibility is shot. All of this. It is an attempt to harass, intimidate, and punish this whistle blower and an attempt to intimidate any other possible whistle blowers.

I don't think we can wait till 2020, to be honest. Our democratic republic is at threat. Right now, the State and the DOJ are both led by people who are abject to a corrupt President. I don't think people realize how difficult it will be to undo the damage Trump is doing.

I have just enough optimism left in my cynical self to wonder if maybe the "unplanned partial routine physical" yesterday is the start of team orange building a way for the buffoon in chief to save face by resigning for health reasons.
Yes, I know, it's a really long shot.

Yes, I know, it's a really long shot. I hadn't read about that. But I said a long while back that if he thinks he might lose (either the election or the impeachment trial), he would likely find a way to quit instead. Of course, that requires him to be able to see the the great, all-knowing Trump might not win something. But I don't think it's totally outlandish to believe that he might quit if things get really hairy.

I have to admit I like reading comments from his supporters. They should get an Olympic medal for the amount of logic dodging, reality distortion they are putting themselves through lol.

I heard an encouraging POV on one of the msnbc shows over the weekend (Morning Joy):
They were saying that there's definitely a core, cult-like group of people who support Trump blindly and their spokespeople on FOX are reinforcing it, but "it's an increasingly shrinking echo chamber."
There are a lot of people who have never liked Trump - I'm one of them. Then there are quite a few who were willing to turn a blind eye to his bad points because they thought perhaps there would be some good policies out of his administration.... Those are the ones who will, I think, come to the conclusion that Trump has to go simply because he is corrupt and unfit.
There are quite a few decent honest people who have extremely Conservative and Libertarian views. A handful of them have spoken out and it has resulted in being forced from the party. But I think there are more who will make the jump once they a) think they can survive it and b) can think of how to save face regarding their support for the first 3 years.

Up today: Who is testifying?Tuesday, first panel at 9 a.m. ET Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman, the top Ukraine specialist on the National Security Council. Vindman listened to the July 25 telephone conversation in the White House Situation Room and reported his concerns about the president's mention of political investigations to the top NSC attorney, John Eisenberg. He said the attorney decided to move the record of the call onto a highly classified system that few could access. Jennifer Williams, a foreign service aide detailed to Vice President Pence's office who listened in on the July 25 call between Trump and Zelenskiy. Tuesday, second panel at 2:30 p.m. ET Kurt Volker, the former special envoy to Ukraine, who along with Sondland and Energy Secretary Rick Perry was part of the "three amigos" tasked by the president to handle Ukraine policy. He was on the list of witnesses requested to appear by Republican members of the Intelligence Committee. Tim Morrison, the former National Security Council aide who heard the July 25 call but in closed-door testimony told the committees conducting the impeachment inquiry that he didn't view the president's actions as illegal or inappropriate. Republicans say his testimony supports the president's position that there was nothing improper about the July 25 call, and they included him on a list of witnesses they asked the Intelligence Committee chairman, Rep. Adam Schiff, D-Calif., to call.

Trump/GOP hoped Volker would be a helpful witness. Instead he:
- Called both Biden corruption & Ukrainian interference in 2016 “conspiracy theories” - Amended prior testimony to admit Sondland did bring up investigations in July 10 mtg & all present deemed that “inappropriate”

Why hasn't the actual recording of the phone call been provided to the investigators yet?
I mean, I know why. But if it was supposedly as innocent as the Trump-released Cliff's notes version, then I would think they (the Trump camp) would be playing it 24/7 on Fox News. Hard to claim it was 100% innoent, but refuse to stare it with at least the investigators, if not Joe Public.
