Yesterday, they put in a central line, and she started chemo last night - she will have IV push chemo, 5 days in a row and then a few days off. They said she will start losing her hair in the next week or two. Other grandma is a sewist and has already started making hats - she will probably make matching ones for Ceilidh. I feel so helpless and useless, but I'm still here and giving my love and support as much as I can.
I'm trying to decide when I will go home. Maeve needs to start packing her apartment so she can move. I think we will probably be here through this week and then head back, but we'll probably be back again in another 2 weeks. Cindy (other grandma) is here for the duration. My sister is probably going to put herself on the rotation as well.

So glad there is such a good support system to surround their little family during this. Continuing to think of and pray for all of you.

What a week. I wish I could give you a big hug too. Hoping for a smooth course of chemo that kicks the crap out of that cancer š

I would gladly accept all hugs! I miss hugging people! And I'm here in IL and Doug is home in CT, so I can't hug him right now. At least I have Maeve and Ceilidh who are both pretty generous huggers.

I talked to Siobhan a little while ago. She said she can feel the love and good will coming to Fionnuala, and she said she's writing a poem about that feeling.
Today, Fionnuala went on a little walk around the hospital unit and Siobhan got some good pictures. She was her usual self on our evening phone call tonight, but she should start feeling the negative effects of chemo in 7-10 days. Still waiting to hear about staging.

I have a new nighttime ritual. As I lie in bed, I visualize the tumor and I imagine it shrinking and disappearing. This is my nighty prayer now.

It's a living nightmare. I"m so sorry. I think that visualizing the tumor shrinking is a great prayer.
