Are you making any? I'll probably do 60 again - even though I read 72 this year (although despite 9 more books I read less pages). Last year I also did this - but this year's challenge is the exact same as last year's so I'll probably take a year off.

I have been increasing my challenge by one book each year till I find a comfortable spot. I have exceeded it so far, so I guess I will go up to 54 this year. I looked at the challenge you posted and I pretty much read something from each of those categories each year anyway. The first thing in the category is "a book you read in school." I have to read Lord of the Flies for Johnny's school very soon, so there's the first one.

The one that kind of challenged me last year was the one for a place you'll be visiting. We didn't really go too far from home . I eventually read a book that took place in Ottawa but I read it well after we went

I’m still looking at different reading challenges to see if I want to do one of those list-type things. I bought a book journal earlier this year, so I’m going to start using it for 2018. Haven’t decided on a number goal.

Maybe I'll attempt that challenge, or a modified version. I've been in a reading rut for quite a while. I'm still reading a lot, but nearly all of it is romance, which is fine, but it's junk food and I'd like a little more mental nutrition.
Maybe that challenge would force me to explore a bit more.

I read a lot of books that I never would have if not for that challenge - but I also read a lot that I would have anyways . I mean "a book by a male author" is hardly life changing

I spent most of 2017 reading Outlander, The Dark Tower and the Bones series by Kathy Reichs so my goal this year is to stop reading books I've read before and try to branch out to different types of books than I'm used to. I'd like to read more Canadian authors and add some non-fiction to my list.

Goal of 40 books again this year. But I'm also doing a "Mount TBR" challenge on Goodreads and trying to make sure at least 24 of those are books that I already own.

You know what I found - and this is going to sound obvious but it wasn't to me - there is as much variety in Canadian books as there is in any kind of books. I got so used to thinking of Canadian books as the literature that you read or heard about in school (Margaret Laurence/Atwood, Farley Mowat, Roberston Davies, etc) that I didn't realize that there are Canadians writing in every genre you can think of - mystery, comedy, romance, YA, fantasy, Sci-Fi - hell I even stumbled across Canadian erotica . I tried to read a variety of voices (immigrant, indigenous, POC, men, women) and genres and I thoroughly enjoyed myself (not like watching Canadian TV ). Not all of the books I read I took place in Canada but a lot of them did.

I'm mentioned in the acknowledgments of an erotica book that was written by a Canadian author Your reading list and reviews have inspired me, I like a variety of genres so I'm excited to expand my horizons a little bit.

C.W. Nightly, she's related to a co-worker of mine and after reading the 1st book I offered to help out with spelling/grammar and ending up helping with her 2nd book.

I am just making it a goal to read more in general. 2017 was a crap year and my brain could not focus on a book to save my soul. I usually always have a book to read and I have only read one in the past 6 months and that was just recently.

I think a while back we did a WBTD challenge where everyone was partnered with someone else and they choose books for their partner to read, or something like that? Would anyone be interested? (If so, I semi-jokingly call shotgun on WOG!!!)

I'm aiming for 35 books this year - last year I had no specific goal and ended up reading 26.

I stumbled across a website a few years ago that lists books written by geographical setting - so it's cool if you're going somewhere you can read books that take place there. The site does not editorialize so there's probably a lot of crap books.
