I had to read the first chapter of Gospel of Wealth by Andrew Carnegie, and I have complicated feelings about it - I think it's great he encouraged people of great wealth to give away their money for the public good (libraries, concert halls, parks, universities), but the disgusting Calvinism of attaching success with wealth skeeved me out, and his judgment of the poor as being obviously unworthy, lazy, etc.

Is anyone else finding it difficult to read lately or is it just me?
I’m currently reading Now That You Mention It by Kristan Higgins.

I finished my quarantine project (War and Peace) and also finished listening to A Tale of Two Cities. I'm now listening to Great Expectations and reading The Rook by Daniel O'Malley

I have been a fan since the 70's and read pretty much anything about him that came out over the years but there is a lot of interesting stuff in the book that I hadn't heard before.

Is anyone else finding it difficult to read lately or is it just me? Yeah, I am. I’ve got a pile of books that I’ve barely touched in the last three months...but I did read The Testaments (sequel to Handmaid’s Tale), which was really good, and now I’m reading The Mirror and the Light by Hilary Mantel.

I couldn't get through most of The Testaments. Maybe I'll give it another try.

I've started reading a Stephen King novel - The Institute. I love it! I was a little worried when I saw it had over 2000 pages (I wasn't in the mood for something THAT long) but it's just flying by.

I just finished The 7 1/2 Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle, which was very interesting! Not perfect, but a really great premise, and mostly satisfying.
Now reading "Stiletto" which is the sequel to Daniel O'Malley's, "The Rook." Not 100% my things, but it moves along!

I just got Joy Fielding's "Don't Cry Now" (In time for camping! Yippee)
I have a niggling feeling I may have already read it but nothing seems familiar yet.

Benighted AKA The Old Dark House by JP Priestly. The granddaddy of all stranded and taking refugee in a weird house with weird people story. Rocky Horror wouldn't have existed without it.
There is also a great conversation in it about Gin.

Just finished Where the Crawdad Sings. Well written, but so sad. Even the happy parts seemed sad.

It's going to take forever for my online library to get a copy. Feel free to paraphrase every chapter in here so i don't have to wait.
