I really hope you can find something that helps you. The title of this thread reminds me of when Homer Simpson told Marge it's uterUS not uterYOU. That's what inspired the title!
Met with the ob/gyn Jen recommended and she is AWESOME, thank you so much for the suggestion, Jen!!!!
We're actually going to try to find out if there is something wrong in my uterus. I have a sonohystogram early next month, and some blood work to check my thyroid and other hormone levels.

Yes! Thank goodness for doctors who don't brush everything off!
Speaking of which, Mayo is starting a campaign to show itself as accessible. To make an appointment for yourself at Rochester (don't go anywhere else) the number is 1-507-538-3270. This is the central scheduling number and they can get you to orthopedic surgery.
Better yet, if you have a physician who will refer you, s/he can call 1-800-533-1564. Records can be faxed to 1-800-321-1368 but before you have anything faxed, ask to see if they can access it electronically. Mayo is on Epic, so if your currently provider is also on Epic, your records are available via the Care Everywhere function.

My boss went to Mayo after having some very frightening news about a spinal tumor. He literally had 8 doctors at Mayo consulting about his case. It has been a life saver fir him.

^ Yup. I'm not saying they can cure everything, but there is no *shrug* "nothing we can do" response. There's a collaborative, problem-solving mentality.

Okay. I called the Mayo folks in Rochester. Lovely people. I am having my orthopedist's office send the records to them and once they have them they will send to an orthopedic surgeon to review. I had a long talk with Doug about this last night, because I had gone through the whole grief process and reached acceptance, and I was feeling reluctant to open that back up again, but he convinced me that I would always wonder if I could have done something if I didn't follow up on this.

I am so, so glad! I completely understand the grief/ hope/ hurt/ acceptance/ vulnerability dynamic. I hope at the very least this gives you a real answer.

My mom and stepdad are actually going up to Mayo tomorrow. His emphysema has progressed so quickly since the fall it's alarming. They want to get second opinions. He's on oxygen 24/7 already and is still out of breath. The doctors here gave him 3 years at best.
I hope they can figure out a treatment that will help.

I’m sorry Mare. I went through this with my mom. Copd is a terrible disease. My mom lasted several years after the expiration date the doc gave her. She was meticulous with her meds and oxygen, and stayed away from sick people.

I hope they are able to help, Mare. Unfortunately once COPD turns the corner, there are limited options.

It's sad. He started getting out of breath this summer. He finally went to to doctor in the fall. Now, he's on oxygen 24/7 and it's still not controlled well. It just seems like it's progressed so quickly.
They put a contract on a house here close to where I live. It's closer to hospitals and doctors. They will be selling their farm. It's so damn sad since they built that house as their dream home in 1995 when they retired early. I guess they had a good run.
My mom doesn't want to be down there alone. I'm glad she'll be closer to me.

Had an appointment today - got a sonohystogram, and my uterus is beautiful and healthy according to the doctor. No fibroids, polyps, adenomyosis. So the bleeding was just normal (for me) perimenopausal hormonal madness.
She recommended the Mirena until I'm done with perimenopause. I'm considering it.

I'm on my 3rd one and have had no problems at all over the years.

It sounds like a Mirena would help you. It's worth a shot. I decided not to try that as I had other conditions and it likely wouldn't have helped.

Well, I had a good run from March until now, but my period came back today just like before.
Calling to get the Mirena as soon as I can.

Another happy Mirena user here. A friend of mine had one put in after similar troubles as yours. It didn't work out for her and she ended up getting it removed so they're not for everyone - but it's been life changing for me. I did have a lot of spotting when I first got it - it's hard to remember it was about 11 or 12 years ago now.

How have things been since, Maur?
I thought of this thread a lot over the past couple months. The last normal period I had was in April. Then, I skipped until mid-June (negative pregnancy test mid-May due to paranoia, lol) at which point I started spotting/bleeding/spotting/bleeding which culminated in three VERY heavy, painful weeks in August. I stopped bleeding on Aug 28th and started spotting again yesterday. Fortunately, I had scheduled something and had an appt today. I had a endometrial biopsy, pap, std testing as well as TSH, Prolactin and blood pregnancy test today. Will have a pelvic ultrasound tomorrow. She said everything looked good to the naked eye (cervix and endometrium) and suspects fibroids. TSH and Prolactin were both normal and pregnancy test was negative. So, I guess I'll see. I have NEVER had irregular periods and only very rarely have I had some ovulation spotting, so this was very strange for me.
But, I was wondering how you were doing and if anything had changed for you...
