It's premature, but not looking good. ![](https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190925/117a936c3cdfd9cbf3eac879f24746ff.jpg)

Fuck. I mean, I loath him and think he's a cancer, a danger, and an embarrassment. But impeachment, especially of this president under these terms, and more especially if it's a successful (is that the right word?) impeachment? It will tear us apart.
IF we get to that point, I hope he can be made to see it and will quit to save remaining face, and/or because he gets offered some sort of immunity. (Would that be legal? Probably not? "We won't file federal charges if you quite instead of let us remove you via impeachment, which we absolutely have the votes to do." )
Oh, and then we are stuck w/ Pence. Oh, and if this happens on a certain timeline, the primaries and nomination are AFU, and we might even have a case where the R nominee can't be on the ballot in some places if deadlines are missed.
I realize there are a lot of leaps here, but it's scary. I'm not totally understanding the glee over impeachment. It something that may be a necessary evil, but that still makes it an evil. All of this has the potential to be very, very bad for the US.

Trump will probably say a lot of stuff that will inspire a bunch of morons to murder a bunch of people and his fans will hurt themselves trying to distort reality.

If nothing else, all of this is making my Current Events/Media Literacy class a lot more interesting this semester. ![:lol](//storage.proboards.com/6819125/images/ootSdPWOeOobaJZc0kIU.gif)

What I truly don't understand is how many people do his bidding for him. How many people have been indicted, are sitting in jail or have lost careers due to their association with or doing favors for him? Is it about the power they feel or the money? I don't get it!

I did a quick read and don't see anything outside of the telephone call.
This is just the letter not the report?

That looks like it is just the letter from the inspector general. I havent seen the actual complaint yet, which is referenced as an enclosure. Never mind, I think I just saw a link to it elsewhere.

Yeah, Giuliani is screwed. Also pretty telling that the WH lawyers moved the records to a different system than where they should normally go.* Nothing says “innocent” like immediately covering your tracks! I suppose it will come down to whether or not the WH officials who spoke to the whistleblower will speak under oath in a congressional hearing. If they get up there and obfuscate and refuse to answer like other GOP officials in previous hearings, it’s going to get even messier than it is already. *allegedly...

The bit (if true) about moving the conversation fro the typical recording system to a classified system seems damning on several levels. It's an attempt at a coverup. They've claimed the call was "perfect" and normal, but this action clearly belies that. It may also be a misuse of of the classification system.
It also suggests that this recording still exists, at least for now 1(8 1/2 minutes on the tapes?) and tells us where to look. And I have trouble believe it will be benign, or they wouldnt't have made efforts to hide it. And now there's a coverup which can also be investigated.

I am also raising an eyebrow at Maguire bringing this complaint to Barr instead of to the appropriate congressional committee. Barr is named in the complaint as being involved, FFS. On what planet does that plan of action make sense??

Can someone explain to me why Guiliani is "fucked"? I'm not seeing it quite that definitively. What am I missing?

Because he is Trump’s personal lawyer with no actual governmental role and appears to have been heavily involved in this entire thing (which also lends credence to the suggestion that this is all for Trump’s personal gain, not anything to do with official business). He has also stated that he was asked by the State Dept to get involved, but this appears to be false (the State Dept said Giuliani is a private citizen and does not speak on behalf of the govt). Also because Trump will throw him under the bus in a hot minute if he thinks it will take any of the heat off of himself.
