link regarding the Cruise ship in Japan. In the case of viral coverage of a viral outbreak far from where you are, how worried do you get? Would you forego a planned cruise in the Mediterranean, or the Gulf of Mexico based on the Japanese quarantine? Are you washing your hands more often?

I should be washing my hands more, but I'm not. I wash them as soon as I get home from shopping or work, as well as before/during cooking, so I'm pretty diligent already.
I would not fly internationally right now, or go on a cruise. Our national nurses' union is sounding the alarm that they think the current protocols are not stringent enough, and I'm not going to argue with them. I think the risk is incredibly low overall, but there are still too many unknowns at this point.

I am obsessive about hand washing anyway, so mo change.
I would not go on a cruise or travel to Asia now.

I just booked a cruise for next January- hoping this is long gone by then.
We are having extra training for coronavirus patients including new masks and other isolation equipment. You’d think Dallas would far removed yet, remember we had Ebola here 😳
As a RN I’m am ocd about hand hygiene and always using gloves.
Don’t get me started about people who wear masks with their noses out 😣🙄

I was scheduled to be on that cruise ship over Christmas 2019. We cancelled because of having an un-sold house. I did reschedule the same cruise for 12/16/20 - 1/6/21. We have a long time to decide to cancel or not. We'll see what happens between now and September (final payment and cancellation deadline).

I would not go on a cruise ever, so that part isn’t a problem for me. I wash my hands regularly as well. I am flying to Brussels tomorrow for a conference, but that is only a 1-hr flight. My husband travels between the UK and continental Europe most weeks for work, so short international flights are hard to avoid in my house (no long-haul flights though). I wouldn’t travel to China. Our school requested that our Chinese boarding students not travel back to China this week (Feb break). I am not particularly worried, but I interact with people regularly who travel internationally all the time (in addition to my husband). I think the overall risk is very low. I won’t cancel my trip to Central/South America this summer unless something changes dramatically.

We have another cruise for Alaska scheduled in 2021 so hopefully they have things under control. I wash my hands all the time but there are SO MANY people walking around with “doodoo hands” who crap at work and don’t wash their freaking hands....

We were planning a trip to Europe this year for our anniversary, but my complete lack of planning has probably been a good thing for once.
Considering how gross a lot of people are on a daily basis, I’d avoid cruises right now, as well. Some of the things I’ve seen on our cruises makes me shocked that I never came home with anything worse than a cold!

I don't ever want to go on a cruise except maybe a really expensive Alaskan Viking cruise someday. My hope is that people who shell out $5K each for a cruise will not be the type who go on cheap party cruises on the Caribbean and puke everywhere or stick their bare hands in food in the buffet. LOL

It's reaching the point where I'd be unlikely to go on any cruise any time soon. Part of that is concern for the actual disease, but frankly more of it is motivated by concern of getting stuck in a quarantine or a situation where we were floating around desperate for anyone to let us dock.
DH flew back Saturday from Hawaii, a place with many visitors from China and other Asian countries, and I admit to having a tiny seed of anxiety about being there and then being on a plane.

I am at Heathrow and my flight is delayed, as are several others. I just read on a local news site that an arriving plane was held on one of the runways for “health reasons” and no planes were allowed to take off or land. They already set up an airport hotel for a quarantine area, so hopefully they will just drive the plane directly there. 😐

I booked a cruise in December 2018 for this December, it's all paid for and we got a balcony room (and they upgraded us to a nicer balcony). We've been on a cruise before and found it relatively easy to avoid the mass of humanity because we had our own balcony.
When the bird flu swept through in 2009, Maeve was in 6th grade and they had a handwashing class for all the kids in her school (6th grade only). She came home and showed us what they taught, I've been washing my hands thoroughly and frequently every since and have avoided so many plagues.

Usual handwashing procedures. It's flu season anyway.
DH and I are planning to go on a cruise (New England/Canada) in September. I feel like either this particular thing will be over by then, or it will be widespread enough that a cruise will be the least of our worries at that point. I will say that we've only paid the deposit so far, and I was planning to pay the balance when our tax refund comes through, but now I may hold off. The deadline isn't until June.

Ooh, mme, is that the cruise that stops in Nova Scotia and Quebec?
As far as the coronavirus goes, I wash my hands regularly, andI try not to touch shopping carts, door handles etc with my bare hands anyway. I keep hand sanitizer in my car and use that when I go out. My husband rolls his eyes at me but I don’t care 😄

I wouldn't go on a cruise during a plague-free time anyway. Just not my thing, and dh used to work on the ocean and has no interest in a floating holiday. Because of work, I wash my hands a lot anyway, so I've just been doing my usual. Dh has a bunch of co-workers who went to China for their New Year's, and he admits to feeling a little more cautious. Not like another co-worker, though - she was talking to an Asian customer who was wearing a mask. She asked him why the mask, and he said he had just returned from China. She pulled out some sort of spray bottle and spritzed it in his direction as he turned to leave. Nice customer service. Kudos to the customer, though, dh said he didn't react at all, just kept going.

Ooh, mme, is that the cruise that stops in Nova Scotia and Quebec? We'll have stops in Nova Scotia (Halifax) and New Brunswick (Saint John), plus Boston and Portland, and NYC for departure/arrival.

I love all those places, although my favorite place in Nova Scotia is Peggy's Cove.

I love all those places, although my favorite place in Nova Scotia is Peggy's Cove. I've never been to any of them, so I'm hoping the virus thing is no longer an issue by then! I think Peggy's Cove is part of some of the excursions they have for Halifax. We haven't picked out excursions yet.

They probably have the Flowerpot Rocks for New Brunswick - that is pretty cool, and you might get to see the insanely fast tide come in in Moncton, too.
