Breaking news. More than 20 dead and 100 injured after shooting on the Vegas strip. He was on the 32nd floor of a hotel, shooting down into the crowd on the street at a country music concert. Shooter was a local and is dead.

Saw video the guy had a fully automatic weapon just spraying into the packed crowd.
Or actually a modded weapon to make it almost fully automatic

Two of my friends were there. Not sure yet if they were at the concert but they did post on FB that they were safe. Terrifying

One of our former members was there but she checked in safe. My sister was invited to go there this weekend but didn't. 8 of 9 of her friends checked in safe and she is very worried about the other.
50 dead now. Crazy.

Yeah, knives and hatchets and axes and arrows can kill, but not fifty people at a time. We need legislation to control firearms just like we need it to control pretty much everything else. When are we going to figure that out?

What new laws would have prevented this?
That’s the problem with using these crimes as justification for new laws is that nobody can think of anything and just propose throwing something out there so the public feels safer.
This guy had no criminal background

The public does NOT need access to military style weapons; not for home defense, not for hunting, and not for any reason that is acceptable in a civilized society. The public does not need to be able to leave Chicago, go to Indiana, and use a major arms dealing loophole to buy virtually any weapon they want with cash, no paperwork, and no questions ask, and then bring said weapon back to Chicago and sell it on the street.
Please don't tell me that "legislation won't help". The right kind can CAN help, a LOT.

There’s no such thing as military weapons, a carrying handle doesn’t make a weapon more effective it’s the firing rate

^ OMG! I was a bit confused because I knew they went for the Country Festival but on FB yesterday they "checked in" from the iHeart Radio Festival so I thought it was another one- but apparently iHeart radio was the sponsor for the Rte 91 Harvest Festival which is where they were and where the shooting took place. No more news from them other than they are safe. Horrifying.

There’s no such thing as military weapons, a carrying handle doesn’t make a weapon more effective it’s the firing rate Yep. There's always a knee-jerk reaction that we need laws, but what laws? Typically the liberal public perceives cosmetic differences in firearms to be important, so they want to ban a scary looking gun that's actually a hunting rifle, or other such nonsense, and then wonder why rural people get pissed off.
